Mass Spectrometry
A collection of Mass Spectrometry inspired instrumentation projects, simulations, and educational demonstrations.
Simulation: Ion Trajectory and Stability
The simulation is written in HTML5/JS. This means that all of the computation is done in browser. This approach was selected because there are no downloads, softwares, or tools that the end-user needs. The simulation should just work (fingers crossed)!

Demonstration: Macroscopic Linear Ion Trap
I have designed a linear ion trap that works at atmospheric pressure with high mass particles. The device uses a laser stroboscope to allow ion trajectories to be seen by eye and by a dedicated digital microscope. There is a project page about this ion trap.
View ProjectDemonstration: Time of Flight
In this demonstration, you roll cylinders down an ramp! The arrival time of the cylinder is measured in the middle and end of the flat section. These two arrival times can help highlight drift tube lengths in time of flight mass spectrometers.
